Kharif Crop Sowing Area Increases Across India
Farmers in India are planting their kharif crops, and the area they're planting on is bigger than last year.
More land is used for crops like rice, pulses, and oilseeds.
This means farmers might earn more money, and it could help keep food prices stable.
The government also decided to pay farmers more for their crops to encourage them to grow even more.
Kharif crop sowing area reached 89.29 lakh hectares, up from 87.81 lakh hectares last year.
Rice sowing area is 4.53 lakh hectares, an increase compared to the previous year.
Area under pulses, including urad and moong, increased to 3.07 lakh hectares.
Oilseed sowing area has risen to 2.05 lakh hectares.
The government approved increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for kharif crops.
