Shami's Mushtaq Ali form raises India selection questions
Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler from India, has been playing really well in a big cricket tournament called the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
He has taken 16 wickets in 7 games, which is a lot!
But even though he's doing so well, the people who pick the Indian team (called selectors) seem to be focusing on younger players for the future.
They think players like Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana will have more experience by the time the next big tournaments come around.
Shami is 35 now, and by the time the next ODI World Cup happens in 2027, he'll be 37.
So, even though Shami is doing great, it's not clear if he'll be picked for the big tournaments in the future.
He'll have to keep playing well and hope for a good season in the IPL with the Lucknow Super Giants in 2026.
Mohammed Shami took 16 wickets in 7 games for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, with an economy rate of 8.90.
Despite his strong performances, national selectors seem to be focusing on younger bowlers for future tournaments.
The selectors believe players like Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana will gain more experience by the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Shami's future in the Indian team is uncertain, with the selectors likely to stick with a mostly finalized squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Shami is expected to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the IPL 2026 season with the Lucknow Super Giants.
