8th Pay Commission: 5% Increment Could Raise Level 1 Pay

8th Pay Commission: 5% Increment Could Raise Level 1 Pay

The 8th Pay Commission is a group that looks at how much government workers should be paid.

They met in several Indian cities in July 2025 to talk about giving workers a bigger yearly raise.

Right now, workers get a 3% raise each year, but some groups want it to be 5% or even 7%.

If the raise goes up to 5%, a Level 1 worker who starts with ₹18,000 a month could earn about ₹24,200 after five years.

This would also help them get more money in things like allowances and pensions.

The commission, led by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, has until August 3, 2027, to finish its recommendations.
