Pakistan Army Ditches WhatsApp for China's WeChat Over Spying Fears

The Pakistan Army has decided to stop using an app called WhatsApp for its work messages.

The army thinks WhatsApp is not safe enough for secret talks.

It worries that spies might read or steal the messages.

So it told its soldiers and officers to use a different app called WeChat instead.

WeChat is made in China and lets people chat, call, share files, and even pay for things.

Pakistan and China are close friends who help each other with defence.

Using the same app helps the two countries' militaries talk more easily during joint exercises and border meetings.

Not everyone agrees with this choice.

India banned WeChat in 2020 because it said the app was a security risk.

That shows different countries can have very different opinions about which apps are safe.
