CAG Flags Serious Lapses in DBT

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Sanjay Murthy, recently spoke about serious problems in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

He said that a lot of money, thousands of crores, is being sent to people's accounts without proper checks.

This happens because different government departments don't share information well and use different databases.

Murthy explained that some states, especially in the south, are better at using technology for these checks.

He also mentioned that technology has helped speed up audits, making them faster and more efficient.

He urged for better accuracy and checks in government schemes to prevent misuse.
