Voter Registration Errors Alarm Tribal Families in Parvatipuram Manyam
Some tribal families say there are mistakes in their voter records.
Because of these mistakes, Booth Level Officers have given them notices.
The errors can be very small, such as one missing letter in a name.
Some people say they have voted before but are now being asked to prove or correct their details.
They are worried that people who cannot easily read, travel or complete paperwork may lose their voting rights.
They are also concerned that voter problems could affect some government benefits.
CPM leaders say the SIR process may remove many eligible voters from the rolls.
They want the government to use a simpler system so eligible people can vote.
Tribal families in Parvatipuram Manyam district report receiving repeated notices over alleged voter-registration discrepancies.
Residents say minor differences, including missing letters in names or mismatched parents’ names, triggered notices.
Affected residents say they voted in previous elections but are now being asked to correct their details.
They allege the process disproportionately burdens migrant workers, Dalits, agricultural labourers and poorer communities.
CPM leaders criticised the SIR process and demanded its cancellation and a simpler voter-verification system.
