Govt. to Consider Powers to Resolve MSME Payment Disputes
Imagine small businesses are owed money by bigger companies, and it's taking too long to get paid.
The government wants to help!
Right now, only state governments can choose companies to help solve these payment problems quickly online.
The government is thinking about giving the central government the same power.
This way, more firms can help, and the small businesses can get paid faster.
They launched a special website to help these businesses file claims and resolve payment disputes online.
So far, this system has not been very effective, and many cases are still pending.
The MSME ministry is considering empowering the central government to empanel firms for online dispute resolution (ODR).
The goal is to resolve delayed payment cases for MSMEs faster and more efficiently.
Currently, only state governments can empanel private ODR firms.
State-level MSME dispute resolution has been slow; many cases are unresolved.
MSMEs contribute significantly to India's exports.
