Oman Becomes India’s Top LNG Supplier as Imports Shift

India bought more liquefied natural gas from Oman than from any other country in September.

Oman sent 585,000 tonnes, while Nigeria was second and the United States was third.

US shipments dropped sharply compared with August.

India also bought less LNG overall than it did the month before.

Supplies from Qatar were much lower, following disruption at a major gas facility after an Iranian strike in March.

India relies on imports for nearly half of its LNG needs.

Many shipments from West Asia pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

India is seeking suppliers from more countries to reduce risks from disruptions.
