AAP leaders cycle to Delhi Assembly over bicycle price row

AAP leaders cycle to Delhi Assembly over bicycle price row

In Delhi, the government has a program called Vidya Vahini Yojana that gives bicycles to schoolgirls.

Some politicians from a party called AAP are upset about how much the bicycles cost.

They say the Delhi government paid ₹6,957 for each of 1,30,000 bicycles.

The AAP politicians say they bought the same type of bicycle from a shop for ₹4,200.

That is about ₹3,000 more per bicycle than the price they found in the market.

To show their anger, they rode bicycles to the Delhi Assembly building.

They want the education minister to step down and answer questions.

They think a lot of money may have been wasted or taken unfairly.

So far, the Delhi government has not given its reply in the articles we have.
