India Hosts BRICS Leaders Amid Wars, Security Restrictions

India is hosting a large meeting called the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Leaders from countries including Russia, China, Iran, and South Africa are expected to attend.

They will discuss cooperation between their countries and major world problems.

The wars in the Middle East and Ukraine may create disagreements among the participants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet several visiting leaders.

China’s Xi Jinping is also expected to meet Modi.

The city has added many police officers, soldiers, cameras, and traffic controls to protect the visitors.

Officials say Delhi will not be completely closed, but some roads may briefly stop or be diverted.

The published program runs from September 11 to September 13, although reports also describe the summit as a two-day meeting.
