Maharashtra and WOTR Partner on Climate Adaptation
Imagine Maharashtra, a state with lots of farms, is facing problems like droughts and floods because of climate change.
To help, the government is teaming up with an organization called WOTR.
They've made a plan to use nature, like forests and water systems, to protect the farms and help the communities.
This plan is called Ecosystem-based Adaptation.
It's like using natural tools to fight climate change.
They will work together to make sure the land is healthy, people know how to manage resources well, and everyone is ready for future challenges.
It will involve farmers, local communities, and the government all working together to build a more resilient future.
Maharashtra government partnered with WOTR to embed Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) into climate policies.
The partnership supports the Maharashtra State Action Plan on Climate Change.
EbA seeks to integrate ecosystem services and involve communities in solutions.
The MoU is anchored on regenerating ecosystems, community resource management, and enhancing adaptive capacities.
The initiative aligns with India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
