Centre Advises AP on PPP Healthcare Expansion
The central government has asked Andhra Pradesh to improve healthcare services by working with private companies.
They want to set up special services like cancer treatment, dental care, and advanced imaging in more places, especially in rural areas.
The central government has given guidelines on how to do this and has even promised to help pay for some of these services.
They also said they will set up 14 cancer day-care centres in Andhra Pradesh by 2025–26.
The goal is to make sure more people can get the healthcare they need.
Central government advises Andhra Pradesh to expand healthcare services through PPP mode.
Five key areas identified: nuclear medicine, mobile medical units, dental hospitals, radiology, and cancer day-care centres.
PPP model suggested is Equip-Operate-Maintain (EOM) and Operate and Maintain (O&M), including payment mechanisms for private partners.
Centre emphasizes prioritizing nuclear medicine services to improve access in rural and semi-urban areas.
14 cancer day-care centres sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh for 2025–26, with a nationwide plan to establish such centres by 2027–28.
