Pune Man Booked For Defrauding Elderly Neighbour Of ₹22 Lakh
A grandmother in a city called Pune needed help with her money because her grandson has a disability and doing bank work was hard for her.
A man who lived next door offered to help her.
Instead of helping, police say he tricked her.
He got her and her grandson to sign some papers without them understanding.
Then he moved a lot of money from her bank into his own business account.
He also borrowed money using the family's gold, which is very valuable.
After borrowing once, he borrowed more money using the same gold.
In total, the family lost about 22 lakh rupees, which is a very large amount of money.
When the grandmother found out, the man is said to have threatened her.
Now the police have registered a case and are investigating.
Subhadra Dnyaneshwar Raut (68) of Hanumannagar, Paud Road, was allegedly cheated of around ₹22 lakh by her neighbour Amar Sanjay Shinde (34).
Shinde allegedly used NEFT slips bearing her and her grandson's signatures to transfer ₹13.30 lakh to his business, Swami Samarth Tours and Travels, and ₹70,000 to Hemlata Dinesh Sarkar's account.
The family entrusted 15 tolas of gold to Shinde, who allegedly pledged it at Manappuram Gold Loan, Deccan Corner, for a ₹8.20 lakh loan he handed over to the family.
Shinde allegedly later took another ₹8 lakh loan against the same pledged gold for his personal expenses, bringing the family's total loss to around ₹22 lakh.
Shinde allegedly threatened to kill Raut; Kothrud police registered a case and Assistant Police Inspector Kadam is investigating.
