Sunnam Cheruvu Restoration Nears Completion Ahead of Month-End Inauguration
Sunnam Cheruvu is a lake in Hyderabad that was badly damaged by sewage, garbage and encroachments.
Workers have been cleaning and restoring it.
The lake has grown from 13 acres to nearly 30 acres.
Walking tracks and green recreational areas have been created around it.
Many residents, including women and children, have started visiting the lake.
Officials said some water tanker businesses had taken water from the lake and supplied it to nearby hostels, schools and colleges.
Tests reportedly found very high levels of lead and nickel in water samples.
HYDRAA faced resistance from some locals and went through legal battles while doing the work.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to inaugurate the restored lake by the end of the month.
