STV Studios Halts Development, Announces Cost-Saving Measures
Imagine a TV company, STV, is trying to save money.
They've decided to stop working on some new shows and cut back on investing in a production company called Mighty Productions.
This is because things aren't going as well as they hoped in the market.
They are also reducing costs to make sure they can still make money.
This will mean less money spent on making new programs and also mean they will try to save money by reducing overheads.
The company's boss says they need to do this to make the company strong for the future, even though they are also still delivering popular TV programs.
STV Studios will stop development at STV Studios Entertainment and investment in Mighty Productions.
Gary Chippington will exit STV Studios Entertainment but will remain as an executive producer.
The decision follows a review of STV's unscripted business due to market conditions.
STV posted flat revenue but operating profit was down 49%, resulting in a loss.
A cost-saving program to reduce overheads by £3M is planned.
