Bengal Workers Plan Return to Mumbai Despite Deportation
Some workers from West Bengal were kicked out of Mumbai because officials thought they were in the country illegally.
They were sent to Bangladesh but then allowed to return to West Bengal.
Even though this was scary, they want to go back to Mumbai.
Why?
Because they can earn more money there to support their families.
They have jobs and businesses in Mumbai, but they need to get their papers fixed first.
They're willing to risk it because the money is much better in Mumbai.
Several West Bengal workers, deported from Mumbai on suspicion of illegal immigration, plan to return despite the ordeal.
They were pushed into Bangladesh before being brought back to West Bengal due to intervention by the state government.
The workers cite better job opportunities and higher pay in Mumbai as the main reason for their planned return.
They face daily wages of around Rs 1,200-1,400 in Mumbai compared to Rs 500-700 in their villages and Kolkata.
Many have debts and businesses to maintain in Mumbai and are awaiting document renewals before going back.
