Mahua Moitra summoned in Bengal over alleged communal social-media remarks

Police in West Bengal have asked politician Mahua Moitra to answer questions.

The questioning concerns a post she made on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A person complained that the post might increase tension between religious communities.

The complaint was filed in Diamond Harbour.

Moitra has been asked to appear on Saturday morning.

Police sources said the case includes some serious, non-bailable legal provisions.

Her post said Muslim government officers were deliberately left out of an event attended by Amit Shah.

The case comes during a period of political tension for her party in West Bengal.
