Book charts UPI's rise as IIT Madras marks decade
A new book tells the story of how India’s digital payment system, UPI, began and grew.
It is called “Cashless Nation: How UPI Changed Everything.”
Santanu Paul and B Sambamurthy wrote it together.
IIT Madras hosted an event to celebrate the book.
Former RBI Governor C Rangarajan called it a brilliant account of the people, policies, and events behind UPI.
He said people from street vendors to billionaires can use the system.
IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti said UPI has become a global role model.
The book’s release comes as the UPI ecosystem reaches its 10th anniversary.

The Penguin Random House publication coincides with the UPI ecosystem’s 10th anniversary.
