SIT Arrests Former TDB Member in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case

SIT Arrests Former TDB Member in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested N. Vijayakumar, a former member of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case.

The case involves allegations of irregularities in the gold plating at the Sabarimala temple, which was supposed to be done using a donation of 30.3 kilograms of gold and 1,900 kilograms of copper by industrialist Vijay Mallya in 1998.

The SIT has been conducting raids and arrests related to this case, including other TDB members and individuals allegedly involved in the theft.

The Kerala High Court has expressed concern over the slow pace of the investigation and the selective arraignment of TDB members.

Vijayakumar had earlier filed a bail plea that will be heard on December 31 at the Vigilance Court in Kollam.

He served as a board member during the tenure of former TDB president A. Padmakumar in 2019.
