Tamil Nadu Assembly Debates Vacancies in Six Constituencies

Tamil Nadu Assembly Debates Vacancies in Six Constituencies

Six areas in Tamil Nadu do not currently have elected MLAs because their representatives resigned.

In the Assembly, lawmakers discussed who should help people in those areas.

DMK MLA Austin said residents might not have their problems properly heard.

Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan said ministers had been assigned to look after the six constituencies.

He also said the government was listening to public complaints and local needs.

Former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said each area needed its own elected representative.

He argued that ministers already managing departments might not know every local problem.

The minister agreed that elections were needed and said the government wanted them held soon.
