Former Telangana Sports Official Urges BCCI Cricket Association Recognition
A former sports official wants Telangana to have its own cricket association.
He says cricket representation currently does not cover all of rural Telangana.
He has asked for a protest outside the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
The protest is planned for the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting on September 18.
He argues that smaller places have received or may receive associate membership.
He says Telangana has a much larger population and should also get this opportunity.
The Telangana Cricket Association supports the demand.
It compared Telangana’s request with the multiple cricket representations in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Former Telangana sports authority chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy called for a protest at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
The protest is scheduled during the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Annual General Meeting on September 18.
Reddy wants a separate cricket association for Telangana beyond Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
He compared Telangana’s population of 2.5 crore with Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ four lakh and Puducherry’s 10 lakh.
The Telangana Cricket Association said Telangana deserves a pathway similar to multiple cricket representations in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
