Surat orders restaurants to show live kitchen CCTV feeds
Surat’s local government wants restaurants to make their kitchens easier for customers to see.
Every restaurant and eatery must put cameras in its kitchen.
Screens in the dining area must show the kitchen footage live.
The rule was introduced after people shared videos of dirty kitchens and spoiled food.
One video from Barbeque Nation showed blackened potatoes and mushrooms that smelled bad.
Officials visited the restaurant without warning.
They took food samples for laboratory testing.
The restaurant also received a notice and a Rs 10,000 fine.
The Surat Municipal Corporation ordered all city restaurants and eateries to install kitchen CCTV cameras.
Restaurants must display live kitchen footage on screens visible to customers in dining areas.
