Wheat Prices Dip Amid Russia-Ukraine War Concerns
Wheat prices went down a little bit today after going up for a few days in a row.
People are worried that the war between Russia and Ukraine might make it harder to get wheat, so some investors decided to buy more to be safe.
Soybean prices went up a tiny bit, and corn prices stayed the same.
Brazil is expected to have a really big soybean harvest next year, which is keeping soybean prices from going up too much.
In Russia, farmers are planting less wheat because they're not making as much money from it.
There were also some attacks on Ukrainian ports, which made people more worried about getting grain from that area.
Chicago wheat prices fell 0.1% to $5.15 a bushel, ending a three-day rally.
Soybean prices rose slightly to $10.65-3/4 a bushel, while corn prices remained flat at $4.47 a bushel.
Concerns about Russian strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure limited wheat's downside.
Brazil's soybean production forecast for 2025/26 was raised to 180.4 million metric tons.
Russia is expected to reduce its wheat area to 26.3 million hectares due to falling profits.
