Nifty 50 Stocks Suffer Double-Digit Losses in September

Many major Indian company stocks became cheaper during September.

Bajaj Finserv fell the most among the Nifty 50 companies, followed by Infosys and TCS.

Several car companies, including Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki India, also lost more than 10%.

The Nifty 50 index fell 6% during the month.

The article says this brought its decline for 2026 to 13.5%.

Investors were worried about expensive crude oil, higher interest rates, inflation, and foreign investors selling shares.

Weak rainfall and changing costs also hurt expectations for India’s rural economy.

However, domestic mutual funds continued supporting the market.

Other Asian markets, including South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong, performed better during the period.
