India's Infrastructure Sectors Show Mixed Growth
India's eight important infrastructure sectors grew by 3.7% in December 2025, which is the highest in four months.
This growth was mainly because of more fertiliser and cement being produced.
However, the growth was slower compared to the same month last year.
Some sectors like crude oil and natural gas actually saw a decrease in production.
The government is also thinking about ways to create more jobs and help people get better skills.
They want to spend more money on things that will help people find work and make the economy stronger.
India's eight key infrastructure sectors recorded a four-month high growth rate of 3.7% in December 2025, driven by increased output of fertiliser and cement.
The growth rate slowed on a year-on-year basis, with a 5.1% growth in December 2024 and 2.1% in November 2025.
Crude oil, natural gas, and refinery products' production recorded negative growth during the month.
Fertiliser and cement output grew by 4.1% and 13.5% respectively, while coal, steel, and electricity output moderated.
The output of these sectors grew by 2.6% during the April-December period of this fiscal, down from 4.5% in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
