Punjab Police Enhances Anti-Drone Measures in 2026
The Punjab Police is planning to improve its ability to stop drones coming from Pakistan in 2026.
They will buy many new anti-drone systems, like handheld guns and bigger systems for vehicles.
These systems can find and stop drones using special technology.
The police will also work with local village committees to spot drones faster.
They have already caught nearly 300 drones in 2025.
The police are also putting up many new cameras along the border to watch for drones.
The government is spending a lot of money to make the police stronger and give them new tools and buildings.
This is all to keep Punjab safe from drones that might bring in bad things like drugs and weapons.
Punjab Police plans to acquire 106 handheld anti-drone guns and 14 static/vehicle-mounted anti-drone systems in 2026.
Around Rs 150 crore will be spent on acquiring new anti-drone systems.
Nearly 300 drones have been intercepted by BSF, Punjab Police, and other central agencies along the Indo-Pak border in 2025.
2,367 CCTV cameras are being installed at 585 locations on the Second Line of Defence at the border for Rs 49.58 crore.
The Punjab government has spent over Rs 800 crore on modernizing the Punjab Police in the last three financial years.
