Dengue, Chikungunya Cases Drop in South Karnataka Districts
The number of people getting dengue and Chikungunya in South Karnataka has gone down.
This year, fewer people got sick with these illnesses compared to last year.
In Mysuru, there were only 15 cases of dengue, while there were many more last year.
The health department says they did a good job by making sure people know how to prevent these illnesses.
They do things like have special 'dry days' to stop mosquitoes from spreading diseases and using fish to eat mosquito larvae.
When someone gets sick, they check everyone nearby to make sure the illness does not spread.
Dengue and Chikungunya cases have significantly decreased in South Karnataka districts this year.
Mysuru district recorded 15 dengue cases between January 1 and May 21, 2025.
Last year, Mysuru district had 252 dengue cases during the same period.
Chikungunya cases in Mysuru have decreased from 69 last year to 38 this year.
The health department attributes the decline to multi-pronged strategies, including dry days and introducing fish species.
