Jharkhand liquor scam: Chhattisgarh businessman arrested in Goa
A businessman named Naveen Kedia from Chhattisgarh was caught in Goa by the Jharkhand Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
He was hiding because he was involved in a big liquor scam in Jharkhand.
The scam involved fake documents and caused the Jharkhand government to lose a lot of money.
Earlier, some government officials and other businessmen were also arrested for this scam.
The ACB found out about the scam after they found a diary with details about the illegal activities.
Naveen Kedia did not come when the ACB asked him to, and the court did not allow him to stay free before being caught.
The ACB is bringing him to Jharkhand to question him more about the scam.
Naveen Kedia, a Chhattisgarh businessman, was arrested in Goa by the Jharkhand ACB for his role in the Jharkhand liquor scam.
Kedia had been absconding and was traced through surveillance and technical inputs.
The scam involved seven placement agencies that violated tender conditions and submitted fake bank guarantees, causing a loss of approximately Rs 129.55 crore to the Jharkhand government.
The total scam amount is estimated to be over Rs 150 crore.
Earlier arrests in the case include senior and retired IAS officers, a Jharkhand Administrative Service officer, and other businessmen.
