Judge Blocks Trump Admin from Revoking Immigrant Work Permits

A judge in Boston has temporarily stopped the Trump administration from taking away work permits from immigrants who are seeking asylum or have Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

These immigrants are from countries that are unsafe to return to due to war, natural disasters, or other catastrophes.

The judge said that the new rules, which were passed by Congress last year, were put into place in a way that was not legal.

The judge also said that the government cannot punish people who don't pay the new fees for asylum applications.

The case is still being decided, and the judge will make a final decision by August 5.

The immigrants from El Salvador, Sudan, and Ukraine who have TPS will keep their work permits for now.
