BJP Criticizes Punjab's Rs 10 Lakh Healthcare Scheme
The AAP government in Punjab launched a healthcare scheme called 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna' that promises free cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every family in the state.
BJP leader Tarun Chugh criticized the scheme, calling it a 'blatant lie' and questioning how the state will fund it given its poor financial health and massive outstanding debt.
He claimed that the insurance company will only cover Rs 1 lakh per family, and the rest will be paid through state funds.
Chugh also pointed out that the state government has a budgetary provision of Rs 778 crore for the scheme, which he believes is insufficient.
He argued that if even 1% of the 65 lakh families were to avail the benefits, the state would need Rs 6,500 crore to fund them.
The BJP leader accused the AAP government of making false promises and failing to take steps towards a 'health revolution' as promised before coming to power.
