Hormuz Shipping Traffic Falls to Seven Vessels, Data Shows

Fewer ships are traveling through the Strait of Hormuz than usual.

Ship-tracking data counted seven ships on Thursday.

Eleven ships crossed the day before, and the recent average is 15.

Five ships went into the strait, while two came out.

The ships carried goods such as fertilizer, grains, steel and fuel products.

Some ships may not have been counted if they turned off their tracking systems.

Before the Iran war began on February 28, about 125 large ships usually crossed the strait each day.

The United States blockade of Iran-related shipping has also stopped Iranian crude oil exports since mid-July.

In the nearby Red Sea, 26 commodity ships crossed the Bab el-Mandeb strait, close to its recent average.
