Kerala Govt to Finalize Vizhinjam Interchange Design This Week
The Kerala government is deciding on a special road design, called a cloverleaf, to help trucks get in and out of the new Vizhinjam port.
This cloverleaf is like a set of looping roads that make it easier for cars and trucks to merge onto the main highway.
The government is working with a company called Adani to build this.
They expect to start using the roads by August.
The government had originally planned a simpler road but decided the cloverleaf would work better.
They are also working on a temporary road to use while they wait for the cloverleaf to be finished.
The new design is expected to make moving goods much faster.
Kerala government is set to finalize the cloverleaf interchange design this week.
The project is crucial for cargo movement to and from Vizhinjam International Seaport.
NHAI has granted in-principle approval; final clearance expected in June.
Adani Group is likely to fund two of the four cloverleaf loops.
The cloverleaf design offers smoother traffic flow compared to the previously considered trumpet design.
