India's IPO Boom Fuels Debt Repayment and Capex
India's IPO market is booming, with companies raising a lot of money.
This money is being used for different things.
A big part of it, about 29%, is going to pay off debts.
Another 26% is being used to build new things, like factories or equipment.
Some of the money is also going to invest in smaller companies, pay for leases, and support day-to-day operations.
This is a big change because in the past, companies weren't spending much on these things.
Now, with all this new money, they are getting ready to grow and improve their businesses.
Indian companies raised Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the first seven months of FY26 through IPOs, FPOs, and OFS.
The total proposed fundraising was Rs 1.82 lakh crore, with 66% coming from fresh equity.
29% of the funds (Rs 34,441 crore) are allocated for debt repayment, part of a deleveraging process.
26% of the funds (Rs 31,058 crore) are earmarked for capital expenditure, signaling capacity building.
The remaining funds are allocated for investments in subsidiaries, lease payments, branding, marketing, and working capital.
