FSSAI Halts Everest, Laljee Godhoo Compounded Hing Sales Over Violations

India’s food regulator tested hing made by two companies.

The companies are Everest Food Products and Laljee Godhoo and Company.

The regulator said some of their hing products did not meet food safety and labeling rules.

Everest’s products had less of a required extract than the rules allow.

The minimum amount is 5%, but tested samples measured 0%, 3.29% and 4.4%.

Laljee Godhoo’s hing also failed quality checks.

Six raw hing varieties used by the company had much more starch than allowed.

FSSAI stopped the affected compounded hing products from being sold and asked both companies to explain how they will fix the problems.
