NH Toll Revenue Doubles in Five Years
The government has reported that the money collected from toll plazas on National Highways in India has more than doubled in the last five years.
This increase is due to more toll plazas being built and new rules to make tolls fairer.
Uttar Pradesh collected the most toll money, and Rajasthan had the most toll plazas.
The government also introduced an annual pass for private cars to make things easier for drivers.
However, some toll plazas had to stop collecting money because of public protests and natural disasters like heavy rain and landslides.
The government is working to make the toll system better and more transparent.
Toll collections from National Highways and Expressways doubled from Rs 33,929 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 70,278 crore in 2025-26.
The number of operational toll plazas increased from 733 in 2021-22 to 1,183 in 2025-26.
