Netflix Ending Support for Older Fire TV Devices in June 2025
Netflix is stopping its app from working on some old Amazon Fire TV devices, like the first Fire TV Stick.
This is happening because these devices can't handle the new and improved way Netflix shows its videos, called AV1.
AV1 makes videos look better with less data, but the old devices don't know how to use it.
Starting June 2025, the Netflix app won't work anymore on these older devices.
If you have one, you'll need to get a newer streaming device to keep watching Netflix.
Think of it like needing a new phone to run the latest apps!
Netflix will cease support for older Fire TV devices starting June 2, 2025.
Affected devices include the original Fire TV (2014) and Fire TV Stick models.
The move is due to the devices' inability to support advanced video formats like AV1.
Amazon stopped providing software updates for these devices years ago.
Users are advised to upgrade to newer streaming devices for continued Netflix access.
