Mumbai Court Denies Bail to Bihar Businessman in Fake Stamp Racket
A court in Mumbai refused to grant bail to a businessman named Shahid Raza from Bihar.
He was arrested for being involved in a scheme where fake postal stamps were used.
The case started when the postal authorities found letters with fake stamps.
The main person, Rakesh Bind, who ran a franchise, bought stamps worth Rs 15 lakh but used stamps worth Rs 1.80 crore.
The police found that Bind sent many letters with fake stamps and transferred money to Raza.
Raza said he was not involved, but the court said the crime was serious and involved many people across India, so he should not be released on bail.
Mumbai sessions court denied bail to Shahid Raza, a Bihar businessman, for his alleged role in an inter-state forged postal stamp racket.
Raza was arrested on October 16, 2023, based on a case lodged by the Postal Inspector at Mumbai GPO.
The scheme involved a franchise holder, Rakesh Bind, who used fake stamps worth Rs 1.80 crore after purchasing stamps worth Rs 15 lakh.
