'Bappa’s Sign?' Garland Video Follows Bhuleshwar Idol Collapse
A very large Ganesh idol was being moved by crane toward a festival pandal.
The idol was about 50 to 100 feet from the pandal when it fell.
Two people died and five others were hurt.
Police are investigating what caused the accident.
Early findings suggest that part of the support system may have failed.
Before the collapse, a video showed a garland falling from the idol.
Some devotees thought this was a spiritual warning.
Others said people should not spread rumors or blame anyone while families are grieving.
The exact cause of the collapse has not yet been confirmed.
A 22-foot Bhuleshwar Cha Raja idol collapsed during transport on Saturday evening.
The collapse killed mandal president Sanket Nevshe and office-bearer Brijesh Joshi.
Five people, including two young girls, were injured in the accident.
Preliminary findings suggest a nut and bolt in the crane support system may have come loose.
