BJP MP Ashok Mittal Seeks Expat Protection Law Amid Attacks

A leader in India's parliament, Ashok Mittal, spoke to the government about Indians who live in other countries.

He said some of these people have been hurt or treated badly because of how they look.

He asked the government to make a new law called the Expat Protection Law.

This law would help Indians living abroad if they get into trouble.

He told the government about people who were hurt or died in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Ireland.

He said the number of Indians who died in other countries went up a lot, from 29 in 2021 to 86 in 2023.

He wants the government to help families get lawyers and money when something bad happens.

He also wants the government to help bring people safely back to India if needed.

He said the safety and dignity of Indians abroad should be treated as a national responsibility.
