US Lawmakers Affirm India as Key Strategic Partner
Some important people in the US government had a talk in Washington.
They said that India is very important to the US, especially in a big area called the Indo-Pacific.
They wanted to make sure everyone knows that even though the US is talking to Pakistan, it doesn't mean they like Pakistan more than India.
The US thinks India is super important for the future because of big companies investing there and because India shares similar ideas about freedom and economics.
They also said this has been true for a long time, no matter who is the US president.
They understand that India makes its own decisions based on what's best for India.
Senior US lawmakers emphasized that India, not Pakistan, is at the heart of Washington's long-term strategic thinking, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Recent diplomatic engagement with Pakistan should not be mistaken for a shift in America's strategic priorities, as India remains the key partner across administrations and sectors.
Congressman Ami Bera clarified that US outreach to Pakistan is not a strategic shift and should be seen in context, not as a change in long-term alignment.
Congressman Rich McCormick described India as essential to future global stability, highlighting shared values and economic integration as key factors in the partnership.
The lawmakers noted that India's role has remained consistent over decades, with each US administration recognizing its importance in the Indo-Pacific strategy.
