Varanasi Court Rejects Plea to Change Gyanvapi Wazoo Khana Seal Cloth

A court in Varanasi, India, recently decided not to change the cloth covering a lock on a special room in the Gyanvapi Mosque.

This room, called the wazoo khana, was used by Muslims for washing before prayers.

The cloth was put there by the court in 2019 to keep the area sealed.

Some Hindus wanted to change the cloth because it was old and torn, but the court said no.

The mosque committee said the Hindus were just trying to cause trouble.

There are many arguments about this place.

Some Hindus say the mosque was built on an old temple, while the mosque committee says the building has been there for a very long time.

The court will hear more about this case on January 6.
