Young Indians Drive Star Health’s Digital Insurance Growth
Star Health shared information about people buying health insurance online.
It said many of these customers are young, with about two-thirds under 40.
Nearly six out of ten are salaried workers.
Online customers chose insurance worth about ₹14 lakh on average.
This was higher than the company-wide average of ₹12 lakh.
Some customers also chose extra benefits such as critical illness and hospital cash coverage.

Star Health reported that about 66% of customers buying fresh health insurance through its direct digital channel in FY26 were under 40.
Nearly 60% of these digital-channel customers were salaried professionals.
Digital customers selected an average sum insured of ₹14 lakh, compared with ₹12 lakh across the company overall.
Star Health’s direct digital channel grew 38% year on year in FY26 and generated nearly 16% of fresh health insurance gross written premium.
The company said its digital journey includes online payments, multilingual assistance, artificial intelligence tools and dedicated relationship managers.
