India's Interpol Red Notices Surge Due to Diplomacy, Technology
Imagine the police use special alerts to find people who have run away from the law.
India is getting much better at finding these people.
They've been working with police from other countries and using new technology.
Since 2023, India has asked for twice as many of these alerts, called Red Notices, to find people who have fled the country.
India held big meetings, the Interpol General Assembly and the G20 summit, where they got support from other nations.
Because of these actions, and because the police use smarter methods, more people are being brought back to face the law.
India's CBI has doubled Interpol's Red Notices since 2023.
The increase stems from enhanced diplomacy, technology, and events like the Interpol General Assembly and G20 Summit.
Red Notices are crucial for locating and arresting individuals wanted for extradition.
The CBI is the nodal agency for Interpol matters in India, streamlining the process.
Extraditions have increased, with 134 fugitives returned since 2020, 23 this year alone.
