Kennedy's Actions on Vaccine Committee Raises Concern
The US Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has made significant changes to the group that advises on vaccines.
He fired the entire committee and replaced them with new members, some of whom question the safety of vaccines.
Former committee members and experts are worried that these changes could make it harder for people to get vaccines and might put people at risk, because of their expertise.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dismissed all 17 members of a key advisory committee.
Eight new members, including vaccine critics, were appointed two days later.
Former ACIP members expressed concern over the changes in a JAMA editorial.
They warned the changes may roll back US immunization policy.
