Tesla Launches Public Cybercab Rides as Musk Bets on Autonomy

Tesla is letting some people ride in its new Cybercab vehicles in Austin, Texas.

The Cybercab is designed to drive itself.

It has two seats and does not have a steering wheel or pedals.

Tesla held a launch event for the vehicle on Thursday.

Investors and fans showed strong interest in trying it.

Elon Musk believes self-driving cars are important to Tesla’s future.

The company says the rides are available only in limited areas for now.

Texas records show Tesla already has 45 Cybercabs in a larger fleet of 420 autonomous vehicles.
