Portugal Approves First Golden Visa Fund for Americans
Portugal has changed its Golden Visa program, which lets people get residency by investing.
Now, instead of buying property, investors can put money into special funds.
One of these funds, called LXL Ventures, is the first made just for Americans.
It invests in both Portugal and the US, and helps Americans with taxes when they move.
This program lets Americans live in Portugal for up to five years, and then they can apply for permanent residency or citizenship.
It's popular because it also allows them to travel freely in the Schengen zone, which includes many European countries.
Portugal's Golden Visa program now focuses on fund-based investments after removing property investment in 2023.
LXL Ventures is the first government-approved fund specifically for American citizens pursuing the Golden Visa.
The fund allocates 60% of its capital within Portugal and 40% in the US, balancing relocation with financial familiarity.
LXL provides tailored cross-border advisory support to help US expats with financial, legal, and tax compliance.
The Golden Visa program attracts between 1,000 and 2,000 American applicants annually, with LXL aiming to work with 5% to 10% of them over the next two years.
