NDMC Exempts FSSAI-Registered Restaurants from Health Licence
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided that restaurants and eateries in Lutyens’ Delhi and other areas under its control no longer need a separate health trade licence if they have a valid FSSAI registration.
This change aims to make things simpler for businesses.
Theatres, auditoriums, and other commercial places with a valid GST registration are also exempt from needing a separate licence.
The FSSAI licence is valid for 1 to 5 years, and the NDMC licence was valid for 1 year, renewable for 3 years.
The NDMC will still check these places to make sure they follow health and safety rules.
Business owners are happy because this will save them time and trouble.
The NDMC expects to recover the lost revenue from other sources like property tax and service charges.
NDMC waives health trade licence requirement for FSSAI-registered restaurants and GST-registered commercial establishments.
The move aims to simplify regulatory procedures and ease of doing business.
FSSAI licence is valid for 1 to 5 years, while NDMC health licence was valid for 1 year, renewable for 3 years.
NDMC will continue inspections to ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
Industry players welcome the decision, citing reduced hassle and time for licence renewal.
