Kerala Government to Examine Separate Muvattupuzha District Demand
Muvattupuzha is currently part of Ernakulam district in Kerala.
Some local leaders want it to become its own district.
The proposed district could include parts of Ernakulam and Idukki.
MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan said the area had been neglected for many years.
He also said development work had been stopped.
Chief Minister V D Satheesan said the government had listened to these complaints.
He said a Delimitation Commission would study the separate-district request.
Satheesan also promised to help address the area’s development backlog.
