Kerala Appoints Prosecutor Amid Sabarimala Gold Theft Delays

The Kerala government has appointed NK Unnikrishnan as the Special Public Prosecutor to handle the Sabarimala gold theft cases.

He will lead the prosecution for the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in two cases involving the loss of gold from the Dwarapalaka idols and the doorframes of the Sreekovil.

Unnikrishnan will also provide legal advice during the investigation and check the charge sheets before they are filed in court.

He has previously worked on important cases like the Jisha murder case and the Jolly serial killings.

The prosecution is under pressure because one accused was released from jail due to a delay in filing the charge sheets.

Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started investigating possible money laundering related to the gold theft.
