IIM Jammu, NASSCOM and J&K Government to Host GCC Summit
IIM Jammu, the Jammu and Kashmir government and NASSCOM are holding a two-day meeting about global capability centres, or GCCs.
These centres can provide technology and other knowledge-based services.
The meeting will take place on October 9 and 10 at IIM Jammu.
More than 300 people are expected, including business leaders, government representatives and academics.
Organisers say the event is meant to explain why Jammu and Kashmir could be a place for GCCs, not to operate as an investment summit.
Speakers say these centres could create jobs for skilled young people.
The sessions will discuss things such as internet and transport links, training, government policies and business needs.
Organisers hope the discussions may lead to agreements, investment commitments or job proposals.
The two-day summit will be held at IIM Jammu on October 9-10 under the theme “Unlocking J&K’s GCC Potential for Building Growth Ecosystem & Catalyzing Investment.”
IIM Jammu is hosting the event with the Jammu and Kashmir government; NASSCOM is its knowledge partner.
Organisers expect more than 300 delegates, including around 45 companies and over 55 industry leaders.
IIM Jammu Director B. S. Sahay said the summit is intended to build awareness and connect industry with government, rather than serve as an investment summit.
Sessions will cover policy, infrastructure, technology, investment, employment and talent, with organisers anticipating possible MoUs, investment commitments and employment proposals.
